These materials from the Geographical Association present primary pupils with a full and balanced picture of life in Tocuaro, a small village in the centre west of Mexico, as seen through the eyes of three generations of the Horta family. Ideal for the study of a contrasting locality overseas. Individual, small group and whole class teaching and learning are all possible with these varied resources, and a rich variety of cross-curricular activities can be developed.
For Key Stage 1 (ages 5-7) there is a picture pack with eight A2 photo boards and a colour poster.
For Key Stage 2 (ages 7-11) there is a full colour book exploring the geography, history and environment of the village. It also covers the eruption of the nearby Paricutin volcano in 1943, and the pollution of Lake Patzcuaro, an important local issue.
There is also a Tocuaro Map available.
