Developed by the British Red Cross with the support of the Geographical Association, this exciting teaching package features a range of activities designed to encourage young people to explore the impact earthquakes have on individuals and communities.

Through this curriculum-led geography teaching package students will learn about the humanitarian impact of natural disasters, with case study examples from the Nepal earthquake.

With content that is designed and differentiated for 11-19 year olds, this resource will help students to:

  • learn about the physical geography, hazards and risk which can cause a natural disaster
  • explain the impact an earthquake may have on individuals and communities
  • gain insight into the Red Cross’ role in disaster preparedness, response and recovery
  • explore the concept of resilience and what makes a community more able to cope in a crisis.

Read our guest blog by Helen Davis from the British Red Cross, where she explains the inspiration behind this resource.
