SMSC for School Improvement: Developing schools through global learning

We still have some spaces left on this one-day workshop taking place on Friday 23 June in London, focused on developing the Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural education provision in your school.
Highlighted as a priority in the Ofsted 2015 framework, SMSC education is a key factor for schools to consider when developing their whole school ethos. SMSC education is at the heart of Think Global’s approach to promoting an understanding of the world through education.
This one day training course aims to support leaders and teachers to understand the current expectations for SMSC education and discover ways to develop and implement SMSC education. We will also discuss ways to measure and evidence SMSC’s impact.
The course enables teachers and school leaders to reflect upon opportunities for global learning in their school and how global learning can improve the SMSC development of their pupils. We will look at SMSC education from a global learning perspective, demonstrating the ways in which SMSC expectations can be met from global learning in the curriculum, developing a global learning whole school ethos’ and improving areas such as pupil voice or rights based education.
What does it cost?
The course costs £170, including course materials and refreshments. Teachers from schools registered on the
Global Learning Programme for England can use e-credits to fully cover the cost.
When and where is it running?
The course will be held on Friday 23 June, 10.00 until 16.00 at Think Global’s office in Southwark, London (registration from 09.30).

Join Think Global's online course starting Tuesday 20 June and gain in confidence in delivering and advocating for global learning in your school.
The course runs from 4pm to 5.30pm every Thursday over six weeks, and is designed to give teachers the space and time to reflect upon teaching international development and global issues in the classroom. In particular, it will support teachers to explore and critique relevant resources and ideas together, and give them greater confidence to advocate global learning back in their own school community. It will also support teachers to gain confidence in online learning.
Through participating in this course teachers will be able to more confidently discuss global learning, in the context of their own school agenda. They will be inspired to discuss and debate definitions of poverty and development, and consider how this relates to their own classroom practice. By the end of the course, teachers will be more confident to choose, use and advocate good quality global learning resources in their school, in order to support curriculum development.

The course costs £500, including course materials and refreshments. Teachers from schools registered on the
Global Learning Programme for England can use e-credits to fully cover the cost.
When and where is it running?
The course runs from 4pm to 5.30pm on Tuesday 20 June 2017 and for five consecutive Tuesdays after that. It is delivered online, so that teachers can easily sign in at the end of the school day.
