Queens of Syria is the story of fifty Syrian refugee women, now living in Jordan, who came together to create and perform their own version of The Trojan Women, the timeless Greek tragedy by Euripides about the plight of women in war. This set of resources has been developed by the British Council. It provides suggested activities to help pupils aged 7 to 14 learn about this innovative project, develop their knowledge and understanding of the situation in the Syria and its surrounding countries, and the realities of life for millions of people who are refugees. They will learn about complex issues like exile and trauma and be encouraged to think about what they can do to welcome refugees in their communities. As well as a free downloadable PDF there are a selection of media resources, including videos and audio clips, of the 'Queens of Syria' talking about their experiences as refugees.
