These vibrant and colourful DVDs are designed especially for young children to introduce them to a variety of festivals. As well as mini-documentaries following families through traditional celebrations, the resource is packed with songs, stories and activities that young children can carry out at school. The films are presented in a modular structure to allow you to use them flexibly over several viewings, either showing the whole film or parts of it. An accompanying booklet provides additional information including how to introduce the festivals and films to children, glossaries, recipes, stories and suggestions of additional activities related to the six Areas of Learning and learning clusters of the Foundation Stage. The DVDs have won the Shap Award for making an 'outstanding contribution to the teaching of world religions' and are also being used for teacher training and in secondary schools and colleges. Festivals covered on the Festivals DVD are: Chinese New Year, Divali, Eid-ul-Fitr and Hanukkah Festivals covered on the Festivals 2 DVD are: Easter, Vaisakhi, Wesak and Christmas Each DVD comes with A2 posters illustrating the story of each festival. The posters can also be purchased separately.
