TrueTube is a free online resource for schools providing a platform for debate on social, ethical and political issues. It is aimed at RE, PSHE and Citizenship at Key Stages 3 and 4. Short video clips encourage young people to think, discuss and engage with moral and ethical issues that matter, inspiring them to become involved in changing the world for the better.
The issues explored are organised under the following headings: Body and Health, Ethics and Religion, Global, Jobs and Money, Relationships, The Earth, Society, Culture and Crime. The sections Global and The Earth have the closest match to GLP criteria. TrueTube kick-starts each new topic for debate by providing a wealth of short films, information and statistics which offer a range of polarised views on the same issue and are deliberately chosen to start a debate, inspire involvement and promote further research. Users can post comments in response to what they have viewed. There is also an editing suite on the site, enabling users to upload and edit their own films.
As well as the film clips there is also a ‘toolbox’ for teachers, plus a wide range of lesson plans and assembly scripts.
