This DVD resource pack, produced by Excellent, a small charity working in dryland Africa, includes two films, one on sustainable farming and one on sustainable development. The first film explores why soil and water conservation are an essential first step to achieve sustainable farming in semi-arid Africa and the impact of soil and water conservation. The second film introduces the concept of sustainable development and what it means for farmers in semi-arid Africa. It then examines the obstacles to development in this area. It also considers what can help and hinder development in the human environment.
The DVD is accompanied by a CD that includes a guide to the films, scripts, and PowerPoint slides based on the lessons in the films. The CD also has activities, Q&A for students, and image galleries. The films are also available online.
