This illustrated book tells the story of Sosu, a young boy who cannot walk. He is unable to go to school like his brother and sister, and stays at home every day with his dog Fusa, dreaming of life outside the compound.
One day there is a terrible storm in his village, and he manages to call everyone home by sounding the alarm with a drum. He becomes the local hero, and is given a wheelchair so that he can join the other children in his village at school.
The book won a UNESCO children’s fiction prize, and encourages children to imagine living with a disability.
