Siemens is a global engineering and electronics company working in four business sectors: energy, industry, healthcare and infrastructure & cities. It has developed a range of interesting and challenging Schemes of Work for Key Stages 3 & 4 (ages 11-16) based on the technologies it is developing in these sectors. Examples include:
- Researching and investigating issues around the fuel, design and environmental impact of London’s hybrid technology buses.
- Exploring how wind farms can provide a significant source of energy but also considering their impact on the local community.
- Discovering how technologies such as MRI scanners enhance medical diagnosis and treatment.
- Exploring how sustainable technologies can support urban infrastructure, planning and control systems.
The resources support learning in maths, science and technology, with a focus on students understanding processes and logic, and engaging in active problem solving and solution development.
Each Scheme of Work is accompanied by a lesson plan, student support information and a video or image bank. Curriculum links are provided for England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
