This free resource aims to advance active citizenship in the areas of conflict resolution, global citizenship, human rights and the link between sustainability and peace, using Peace Day (21 September) as a focus.

The resource contains 19 student-centred lesson plans linked to The Day After Peace film/DVD – which charts the 10-year journey of filmmaker Jeremy Gilley to establish an annual Peace Day on 21 September. There are also 26 classroom resources such as worksheets and exercises, and comprehensive information on cross-curricular activities.

A free copy of The Day After Peace School Edition DVD together with the teachers pack was sent in May 2009 to every UK secondary school. It contains two classroom-ready versions of the film as well as the original feature-length film (with subtitles in the six official languages of the United Nations). It can also be purchased separately online.
