Oxfam Water Week for Schools provides opportunities for young people to learn and think critically about water issues, before taking informed and meaningful action.
Water Week can be held at any time of year, but many schools find the summer term works well. The resources have been streamlined to enable schools to complete activities in just one or two sessions, but they retain flexibility for extension.
The resources consist of: a teacher’s guide; slideshows introducing the theme and exploring water vulnerability; a selection of film clips looking at causes, symptoms and solutions to water vulnerability in various different countries; background country information; and guides to learning, planning, taking action and fundraising.
Any funds that are raised go towards the Oxfam’s water, sanitation and hygiene promotion (WASH) projects.
The resources are aimed at ages 7 to 14; there is also a SEN version available.
