This free teaching resource offers an opportunity to explore in detail a wide range of issues related to food and poverty. It consists of: a PowerPoint presentation; additional learning, research and homework activities; with video clips, photos and extensive background information.
The resource has been developed by Think Global and trialled in secondary schools. It supports the Live Below the Line campaign which encourages participants to explore the issues around global poverty. It would be an ideal resource to use on World Food Day (16 October) or on the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (17 October) or similar awareness-raising days.
It is designed as a one-hour Geography lesson at Key Stage 3 (ages 11-14) with extension activities, but could easily be adapted to use in Citizenship and Maths lessons.
