Eleven-year-old Suraj has never seen a computer before, except from on television.

Fourteen-year-old Parveen attends a school where there are three computers, however to access them students must pay 25 rupees (about 32 pence) per month; a lot of money when the average yearly income for a family in the village is £10.

Professor Mitra installed a public computer in the centre of this village as part of an investigation to see if children can learn computer skills and new languages by themselves.

Discover how the residents of Gurjolia, West Bengal responded to the installation of the village computer.
