This set of resources from UNICEF supports teachers in exploring the refugee and migrant crisis with children and young people at school. The downloadable pack has a wealth of background information followed by over 20 learning activities that can help primary and secondary pupils make sense of the refugee crisis, with a focus on children and their rights. The activities are suitable for children aged 7 to 18, and they range from short one-off lessons to longer projects and whole-school ideas. They are not tailored to specific curriculum subjects but are probably most appropriate for English, History, Geography, PSE/PSHE and SMSC. The aim is for them to be adaptable to suit different school contexts. There is extensive guidance for approaching sensitive issues. The activities are supported by web links, video clips and infographics. There is also a factsheet for children and supporting PowerPoint presentations. All in all, a very thorough set of resources on an important current issue.
