Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) can help poor people improve their lives. They have the potential to reduce poverty, deliver basic education, improve agricultural outputs, increase access to healthcare information and improve incomes.
This resource consists of a 7-minute film clip and a downloadable ‘infographic’ exploring: types of ICT, leapfrogging, digital revolutions, appropriate ICT, the digital divide, mobile banking and apps of the future. Examples from Kenya are included.
The aim of this resource is to support teachers’ knowledge of development, but it would also be useful to use in Geography at Key Stage 3 (11-14).
