MADE (Muslim Action for Development and Environment) is developing a series of resources to support Muslim schools to implement a global dimension as part of the school curriculum.
This resource pack contains 5 comprehensive lesson plans and 4 PowerPoint presentations covering hunger and why it occurs globally, as well as why nearly 50% of all the food produced globally is unnecessarily wasted and contributing towards global hunger.
Teachers can explore important and relevant issues from an Islamic perspective looking at various verses and ahadith. Other topics include the effects of hunger such as poverty, infrastructure, international aid, land grabbing, as well as how supermarket behaviours such as sales promotions and perfectly shaped fruits and vegetables contribute to the £10 billion worth of edible food waste in the UK alone.
Each pack contains in-depth teachers’ notes, background research, PowerPoint CDs, and hand outs exploring key Islamic values and ethics through a global education perspective.
