This website from AusAid (the Australian government’s aid department), provides lots of background information about global issues and suggestions for exploring these in class. It also suggests a variety of teaching activities exploring global perspectives.
Although designed for teaching in Australia, many of the activities could be adapted for use in a UK classroom, particularly for Geography teaching for all age groups.
There are also a range of case studies illustrating particular development themes, and giving details of life in a particular country, city or locality. Country profiles, video clips and images are also available. You need to bear in mind, however, that the perspective is from the point of view of development aid from Australia and so may not be always adaptable to UK schools.
