These schemes of work for RE lessons present five profiles, exploring how faith has motivated people to take action as Global Citizens.
For primary teaching, the profiles are: Alia Muhammed Baker (saved the books in Basra Central Library from looting during the Iraq War); and Wangari Maathai (instigator of the Green Belt tree planting movement in Kenya).
For secondary teaching, the profiles are: Laura Cook (photographer for development NGOs who sees her work as an expression of her Christian faith); Aung San Suu Kyi (Burmese peace and democracy champion); and Bhaktivedanta Manor (Hindu centre focussing on interfaith dialogue and sustainability).
They are all free to download from RISC’s online resource bank; you need to register first, but this is also free: www.risc.org.uk/resourcebank/ – once registered, click on ‘Schemes of Work’ and select the subject ‘RE’.
