Educating for Sustainability

A resource for teachers of children aged 7-14 years

KS2: ages 7-11KS3: ages 11-14Book

This is a toolkit for Key Stage 2 and 3 (7 – 14 years old pupils). It focuses on sustainable development issues in the UK and Gambia. A key feature of this resource is that it was a collaborative project between the National Environmental Agency in Gambia and the Tide~ Global Learning in Birmingham (UK).

It covers four main themes: Climate Change, Natural Resources, Tourism and Waste Management. Teachers in Gambia and England developed these activities and materials that include factual information around a topic, with support of visual aids such as photographs, maps, and graphs. They raise issues about human life changes, development, current life and future challenges for sustainable development. The importance of sustainable development strategies for the UK and Gambia and their global impact are also highlighted.
