Written by local Dorset author Louisa Adjoa Parker in collaboration with DEED (Development Education in Dorset) this fascinating local history book explores the contributions and histories of those with African, Caribbean or Asian heritage living in Dorset. It highlights the links between Dorset and the transatlantic slave trade as well as the role of Black soldiers in Dorset during World War II.
The DEED website provides free downloadable resources to support teachers of Key Stages 2 and 3 (ages 7-14) in exploring the issues covered by the book. There is also an exhibition available to hire.
