Why this topic matters

Each year, on 23 March, the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), its membership of 193 States and Territories, and the worldwide meteorological community, celebrate World Meteorological Day around a chosen theme. The Day commemorates the entry into force, on that date in 1950, of the convention creating the WMO.

You can find out more, and download additional resources, from the WMO website. The site also has a great set of pages for young people on weather, climate and water science. To find resources on the Global Dimension database with a meteorological theme you could browse through the climate change resources or do a search on the keyword 'weather'.
