22 May every year: Increasing understanding and awareness of the world’s biodiversity.
The United Nations proclaimed 22 May the International Day for Biological Diversity (IBD) to increase understanding and awareness of biodiversity issues. The theme for 2017 was Biodiversity and Sustainable Tourism – an opportunity to raise awareness of the important contribution of sustainable tourism both to economic growth and to the conservation of biodiversity.
