Take a tour
If you’re new to the Global Dimension Website, or just want to know how it all works, this page will help you find your way around.
1 Teaching resources
First off, the main aim of this website is to help you find teaching resources linked to a range of global issues. There are over 800 resources here, which have been produced by lots of different organisations, and you can browse through them by age range, by curriculum subject and by topic. You can also browse through whole school resources (such as assembly kits, award schemes or audits).
If you want to do a search combining age range, subject and topic, or maybe search for a particular title or publisher, then use our advanced search.
If a particular resource takes your fancy, click on the title of the resource or 'More' to access full information about it, including ordering details (if you need to pay for it) or a download link (if it’s free).
To get an overview of a particular topic before starting your lesson, check out our global issue articles which provide a brief background about a range of issues and suggestions for teaching as well as links to resources.
2 Global issues in the classroom
Curriculum info explains how the global dimension fits into school curriculum subjects. There are also lots of case studies giving examples of great global work going on in schools. You can even submit your own case study – please do, as we love to share case studies with members of the network!
For more inspiration, check out our calendar for details of forthcoming global days and weeks such as World Water Day or Refugee Week, that can provide a current ‘hook’ for lessons or assemblies.
3 Support available
Get support lists organisations that can help you bring global issues into the classroom, through offering professional development, providing a speaker, or helping you set up a school partnership. You can also look for support available locally to you, via our interactive map.
In addition, we list range of global dimension courses and conferences for teachers on our calendar.
