Local support

  • Pestalozzi International Village Trust

Pestalozzi tries to base its education around its philosophy of educating the ‘head, heart and hands.’ The Outreach department also aims to base its objectives on this philosphy, while challenging stereotypes and promoting diversity. The Outreach department has two main focuses; firstly it seeks to provide opportunities for Pestalozzi scholars to interact with the local community sharing about their lives and cultures, while developing a greater understanding of British culture. The second focus is education within local schools; helping schools to develop the Global Dimension and Sustainability whilst challenging stereotypes and seeking to break down barriers. There are two areas to the schools based work. One is a focused project working with 11 schools in East Sussex on the Global Dimension for Sustainable Schools project funded by UKaid, from Department for International Development. The other area works alongside local schools to explore the eight concepts of the Global Dimension.
