DEED is a development education centre serving the county of Dorset. It has an extensive resource centre comprising books, country based and themed collections, world music collections, home corner boxes and a Ghanaian crafts exhibition entitled Sankofa. DEED works with teaching staff, children, Early Years providers and community groups to promote global citizenship and race equality. Current projects include ‘Rights Respecting Global Citizens’, embedding global dimension through a training course for schools on the Rights Respecting Journey; ‘It’s My World Too!’, supporting Teaching Assistants and Higher Level Teaching Assistants to embed development awareness; ‘Future Stars’, working with schools to provide better educational resources for Black and Ethnic pupils and families; and running events, conferences and training for teachers on Sustainability, Community Cohesion, Fairtrade Schools, Global School Partnerships and Multicultural Britain. We operate a resource centre providing information and resources on development and environmental issues, a library and artefact collection.
DEEL can provide advice, training and workshops to schools and community groups. Curriculum support and professional development particularly for the Primary Phase.
We work locally to promote awareness and understanding of how global issues affect the everyday lives of individuals, communities and societies across the world.

Development Education Centre South Yorkshire
The Development Education Centre (South Yorkshire) (DECSY) is an independent educational charity aiming to promote development and global perspectives in the curriculum. DECSY provides resources, training, support and advice for anyone interested in development education. DECSY’s resource centre stocks over 1300 titles for sale, loan or reference as well as collections of artefacts from around the world to borrow. It also offers human resources in the form of ‘Southern’ artists and cultural mentors for early years settings. DECSY offers training for teachers and others, and opportunities to participate in curriculum development projects. Devon Development Education
Devon Development Education, based at the Global Centre in Exeter, provides a range of programmes and projects which aim to bring an understanding of global citizenship to the young people and communities of Devon, Plymouth and Torbay. Our initiatives include the development of a trainign package for primary schools teaching French which focuses on Mali in West Africa; early years work to introduce culture and diversity to very young children and those who work with them; support for special needs pupils and their teachers in mainstream schools in engaging with the global citizenship curriculum; and the bringing together of students from various parts of the world to learn how other young people cope with conflict.
