Kwajo and the Brassman's Secret
Kwajo's father makes traditional weights, in the shape of figurines. One day Kwajo's little brass drummer comes alive, and takes him on an adventure, where he tries to solve riddles in order to win gold for himself.
This book is beautifully illustrated, and brings alive daily life in a rural village in Ghana. Notes at the back of the book give a short explanation of the history of the brass figurines and the kingdom of Ashanti in West Africa in the 17- and 1800s.
